NPU News Network, December 10 (Du Yao) On December 8th, the 2018 Academic Annual Conference ofDas KapitalResearch Association in Shaanxi Province and Symposium on the 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening Up was successfully held byDas KapitalResearch Association in Shaanxi Province and the School of Marxism in NPU. The representatives of teachers and students from School of Marxism in our university, together with nearly 120 representatives from Provincial universities, Party Schools, Military Schools and Social Science Research Units, attended the conference, including Chen Jianyou, member of the Standing Committee of CPPCC and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of our university; Gan Hui, Chairman of the Social Science Association in Shaanxi Province; Yang Sanxing, Director of Government Policy Research Office in Shaanxi Province; Bai Baoli, Chairman of the Capital Economist Forum, Vice President ofDas KapitalResearch Association in China, Vice President of the National Institute of History of Marxist Economic Thought, Honorary President ofDas KapitalResearch Association in Shaanxi Province and Lecture Professor of our University; Zhang Baotong, Deputy Director of Academic Committee of Academy of Social Sciences in Shaanxi Province; and Kong Xiangli, President ofDas KapitalResearch Association in Shaanxi Province.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Tian Yiwen, Vice President ofDas KapitalResearch Association in Shaanxi Province and Professor of Northwest Agricultural and Forestry University.Yin Haiyuan, Secretary General ofDas KapitalResearch Association in Shaanxi Province, introduced some leaders and guests attending the annual conference.

Chen Jianyou delivered a welcome speech on behalf of our university. He stressed that our Party Committee should thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping’s Socialist Ideology with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era, the spirit of the 19th National People’s Congress of the CPC and the spirit of the National Education Conference, and put forward the goal of having not only first-class Science and Engineering Discipline but also prosperous Philosophy and Social Sciences Discipline. In the future, the university will continue to strongly support the development of Philosophy and Social Sciences, and further support the work of School of Marxism. Taking the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up as an opportunity, experts and scholars gathered to deepen the study ofDas Kapitalwith distinct theme, which was the best commemoration for the great teacher Marx, the thorough implementation of Xi Jinping’s Socialist Ideology with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era, and the positive response to the construction of Socialist Political Economy with Chinese characteristics. Hoping the convening of this forum can promote the research of Das Kapital and Marxist Theory to achieve new improvement, and gather wisdom and strength to accelerate the construction of Double First-rate (World-class Universities and World-class Disciplines) in our university.

In his speech, Gan Hui, on behalf of the Association of Social Sciences in Shaanxi Province, said that it was of great theoretical value and practical significance to hold this symposium on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of Marx’s birth, the 170th anniversary of the declaration ofthe Communist Manifestoand the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening up, and stressed the importance of studyingDas Kapital.Since its establishment in 1983, theDas KapitalResearch Association in Shaanxi Province has always adhered toDas Kapital, never changed its theoretical research and actively participated in the discussion and research on major economic theoretical issues of Socialist Political Economy with Chinese Characteristics. Combined with the actual situation of Shaanxi Province, the Research Association has carried out research on theoretical and practical issues and produced a number of achievements.

In his speech, Yang Sanxing first fully affirmed the research achievements and academic efforts of the Das Kapital Research Association in Shaanxi Province in the past 40 years and stressed that in future research, we should adhere to the basic principles of Marxism and develop Marxism at the same time. In the face of the new situation of China’s reform and opening up as well as the great changes in the world’s development, we should innovate and explore on the premise of adhering to the basic principles. It is hoped that theDas KapitalResearch Association will not only adhere to the basic theoretical research, but also pay attention to the reality of the development requirements of Shaanxi Province.

In his speech, Kong Xiangli stressed that theDas KapitalResearch Association in Shaanxi Province should take theDas Kapitalas the link and platform, and should gather experts, scholars and young students who are engaged in the research ofDas Kapitaland economic teaching in Shaanxi Province. We should consider the reality of Shaanxi Province, constantly improve the research level ofDas Kapital, and constantly enrich and develop Socialist Political Economy with Chinese Characteristics in the new era with a broader academic vision, a more scientific academic attitude and a more outstanding academic pursuit.

At the end of the opening ceremony, Yao Yu, Deputy Secretary General of theDas KapitalResearch Association in Shaanxi Province, read the essay-awarding decision and list. The guests presented awards to the winning teachers and students.

In the afternoon, experts and scholars had in-depth exchanges and discussions during the free speech section of academic research.

At the closing ceremony of the annual conference, Yin Haiyuan, Secretary General ofDas KapitalResearch Association in Shaanxi Province, made a summary of this confenrence, while Yang Yunxia, Dean of School of Marxism in NPU, made a closing speech.
