On 18th April, “I Want to Be a Teacher”, the first feature film on teachers of ideological and political theory, was screened at Northwestern Polytechnical University. The film is also a tribute film for the fifth anniversary of the symposium for teachers of ideological and political theory courses in schools. Li Gang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Marxism, presided over the screening ceremony, and representatives of teachers of ideological and political theory courses, full-time and part-time counsellors, and postgraduates of the School of Marxism watched the film together.
The film "I Want to Be a Teacher" is based on the grand background of the development of new Chinese education, focusing on the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's "3-18" speech and the opinions on comprehensively deepening the reform of the construction of the new era of the teaching force, focusing on the overall strategic plan of the Party and the state to deepen the construction of a strong educational state, and reflecting the journey of the idealistic beliefs of young teachers of ideological and political theory courses in the form of cinematic art, and also opens a new window for the whole society to understand the ideological and political theory courses teaching team.
Counsellor Xu Sinuo said after watching the film, as a teacher of ideological and political theory courses and full-time counsellor, I deeply feel that it a good teacher can illuminate the students' life dreams, the ideological and political theory course teacher's "big truth" can also be connected with the students' own "small truth". Helping students to find the true value of life to serve society and contribute to the country is the biggest "Dao" of an ideological and political theory teacher. To prepare a good lesson, we not only need to prepare the truth, but also need to go into practice and get close to the students.
Hou Ruoyun, a doctoral candidate of the School of Marxism, mentioned after watching the film that she had a deeper knowledge of the duties and missions of teachers of ideological and political theory courses. "Teachers can't just be pedagogues who impart book knowledge, but should become 'Mr Big' who shapes students' character, conduct and taste". As a student of the School of Marxism, we should always bear in mind the principle of "Enlighten the mind, establish virtue and nurture the people", learn from the outstanding role models, work hard, sharpen our will, take up important tasks, seek true learning and practice true skills in practice.
