Ray Taheri

Birthday: June 11th,1966
Dr. Ray Taheri holds a PHD.degree in Material Science and Engineering from University of Saskatchewan, Canada,2002. He has been involved in higher education teaching and learning for over two decades. Currently, he is a senior instructor in School of Engineering Design，SOE, at University of British Columbia Okanagan.
Dr. Taheri’s main passion is in Engineering Design and Human Centered Design Thinking. He has been a design champion in SOE. He his colleague Dr. Wilson Eberly made SOE Capstone Design Program from being little know,2007, to one of the most successful programs in the country,2015. He and his colleague Prof. Susan Crichton(Dean of Education, UBCO) were the driving force beyond Makerspace movement in UBCO Okanagan. Dr. Taheri is also heavily involved in sharing his teaching experience to pedagogy community around the world. Dr. Taheri believes only by creating curiosity among young minds that higher education can achieve its mission of encouraging students to seek knowledge. Dr. Taheri has been the recipient of numerous teaching awards including, Teaching Excellence in 2011, UBCO Honor Role Teaching awards in 2011-2014, Provost Award for Teaching Excellence and Innovation in 2015,I am Accessible in 2016, and Golden Apple in 2016.
